I started using AVG at version 7.5, liked everything but it’s update process. When you was in the middle of doing something and AVG decided to update, the update process would appear and then when it was finished, you needed to click OK or wait for it to count down. With AVG 8 that is no more. BUT…. now I have and so do many other people have update issues. I was using AVG 7.5 Network Edition as I said and did an upgrade to version 8 with a Sept build of 138 which is a paid version.
I spent most of the day today completely updating the guide. It’s now 100 pages long. Most of the length came in the form of screenshots for people to understand better. Please let me know your thoughts.

This seems to be a big issue here lately with companies upgrading to Microsoft Office 2007. By default if you are using Office 2003 and you try to open an Office 2007 file, you will receive an error. I’ll get a screenshot of this tomorrow. What needs to happen is one of two things, either you need to install the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack or the person sending the files needs to send it in the 2003 file format or of course upgrade to Office 2007. Here are some examples below

When I deploy laptops/computers I create an icon called Help Me! that is tied into VNC. When a user clicks the Help Me! icon their IP address is displayed. They then tell me the IP address and I connect using VNC Viewer and a password. Here is how to set this up.
1. Download VNC 3.2.3.5
2. Install VNC
3. The icon I use is shown below

Take a look at the time on your computer, now count how many icons are running next to it, how many do you have, 4, 5, 6 or more? Well your system may be lagging with all these programs running that don’t need to be. Usually when you install a program it adds an entry under that startup folder. Well that may be fine here and there but after a while you can build up a lot startup programs. To fix this problem follow the steps below:

I have some users not always connected to the LAN which means using VNC isn’t going to happen without some adavanced configuration one both ends which takes up way to much time. So the easiest way to do this that I’ve found is to use a program called Crossloop. It’s free and very easy to use, especially for users that are not computer savy. All it takes is a simple install, the user gives you an access code and click connect, easy as that. Below is how to install

I mainly use MSN messenger between home and work and hate receiving the message that I signed out of messenger and then need to sign back in. So to fix this I found a program called MSN Polygamy. I have used this in the past but MSN updates their messenger client so often that it sometimes doens’t work. But as of right now it does work. This is very simple to install. Just download, run the program, click Allow and that’s it. To reverse the changes click Disallow it.

I recently acquired a BB 8830 World Edition when I switched to Verizon from Sprint. I wanted this phone mainly for work purposes to read, write, reply, etc to emails just so I don’t have to login via a pc. We do have a BB server but I didn’t get approved for whatever reason. So today I found out a way to view, write and reply to my emails from work.

To make my life easier and other users at work, I created a bach file to automatically delete old network printers and add the new network printers. Well for about 2 years this worked great. But some where along the lines on a Microsoft Update or Printer driver update, printers were not added correctly. I would constantly receive spoolsv.exe errors and have go thru as many fixes as I could find on the net as possible. Today I ran across an idea that I should have thought of first. Just go to the server, highlight all the printers and connect. And what do you know, works like a charm. Below is the code to add/remove printers, saved as a batch file:
